Social Skills Courses

Our social skills courses provide instruction, demonstrations, modeling, practice, and promotion of transfer and generalization in the following areas to increase skills and opportunities for positive social interactions for children with social skills needs:

  • Joint attention

  • Shared enjoyment

  • Perspective taking

  • Compromising

  • Greetings

  • Sharing

  • Turn-taking

  • Reciprocal Conversation

  • and other key skills for school, home and community success!

Prices range from $1,560-$2,520 per term (see age group sections below for more information).

 

  • The elementary school group is made up of students aged 7 to 12. This group meets on Saturday mornings from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm.

    Spring Term Course Description

    Friendship Builders

    Friendship Builders is a course designed to help participants put together the instrumental skills needed to continue building friendships with peers. Students will learn about how to get to know others, giving and receiving compliments, and sharing and taking turns. Students will be supported in defining and identifying boundaries and personal space. Students will also explore how it's okay to have differences with friends, as well as it being okay when a friend says “no”. By the end of this course, students will be equipped with their own set of tools on how to maintain a healthy friendship with others as well as use these skills in everyday social situations. Lessons will include manipulatives, examples, games, and conversational topics to build understanding on the content taught. After each lesson, students will have the opportunity to apply their learning in a real-life setting with short outings to community events and places, and games.

    Attendance in the previous term is not necessary to attend the current term. We will work to make sure all students have an understanding of previous topics to ensure successful completion of each lesson.

    The tuition cost for this course is $1,560 for the entire term, which includes any admission fees for the community outings. 1:1 support is billed at $60/hour and is in addition to the term tuition.

  • The middle school/high school group is made up of students aged 13-19. This group meets on Saturday afternoons from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.

    Spring Term Course Description

    Friendship GPS

    This course builds upon the skills learned in the winter course, Friendship IRL. Friendship GPS is designed to help teens strengthen and maintain healthy friendships through deeper relationship skills, conflict resolution, and emotional awareness. Students will learn how to check in with friends, handle misunderstandings, offer meaningful apologies, and respond to gossip, peer pressure, and exclusion. They will also explore how to recognize one-sided or unhealthy friendships, make social plans, and follow through with clear communication and reliability. Lessons will include manipulatives, examples, games, and conversational topics to build understanding on the content taught. Also in each class, educator support is implemented in real-time to help students notice patterns, ask questions, and build confidence in social situations. After each lesson, students will have the opportunity to apply their learning in a real-life setting with field trips to community events and places.
